About this project

Timber posts and open overhead members define a sitting area beside the house. A paved surface runs beneath the pergola, with lawn and mature planting around its edges. The wood adds a warm frame against the light building wall and the green yard. From the different angles, you can see how the upright posts meet the overhead structure and how the paved area sits within the garden. The open top leaves the sky visible between the timbers. These photographs focus on the pergola itself and the way its outline gives the existing outdoor space a distinct gathering area.

Work shown

  • Timber upright posts defining the corners of the open overhead structure.
  • Cross members with visible gaps that leave the sky open above.
  • Paving beneath the pergola beside the existing house wall.
  • Lawn, mature planting and trees surrounding the paved sitting area.

Looking through the photographs

Each angle places the timber structure in a slightly different relationship to the garden. From the lawn, you can see the posts framing the paved area. Closer to the house, the overhead members become the main detail. Their spacing creates bands of light and shadow across the view. The pergola remains open at its sides and top, so the yard is visible through it. The photos show the timber, paving and planting together within that setting.

We had S&N Construction help us with a concrete patio project at our home in St. George and had a great experience. They were straightforward, professional, and their pricing was very fair for the quality of work we received. They did exactly what we had discussed, and the finished concrete looks great. What stood out most was how easy they were to work with and how much they cared about getting the details right. I would definitely use S&N again for future construction projects and would recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and reasonably priced general contractor in St. George.

We had S&N build an ADU for us in St. George and we're really happy with how it turned out. There were a lot of moving pieces with the project, and they did a good job keeping things moving and answering our questions as they came up. The finished space looks great and feels very well built. Sam and Nick were both easy to work with and stayed on top of things throughout the job. We'd definitely use them again.
